A successful candidate must be a current student and eligible for the federal work study program. If you do not know if you are eligible, please check with the Office of Student Financial Aid before applying. FIUTS is considered an off-campus employer.
FIUTS is currently hiring three part-time work study positions:
International Student Orientation Assistant
Education Programs Assistant
Community Programs Assistant
Priority is given to candidates who are interested in long-term positions (one year or more). To apply for a FIUTS Work Study position, send an email resume and cover letter outlining your experience to Era Schrepfer, FIUTS Executive Director.
FIUTS offers unpaid internships for students from all schools interested in learning more about the field of program management, international education, marketing, event planning, and non-profit administration. Internships are similar to volunteer positions, but require more regular hours and a commitment of a minimum of 15 hours a week for one quarter. Internships make excellent additions to any resume, and build skills and experience in the process.
Typical daily tasks include:
- Welcome each person that enters the FIUTS office and assist students in signing up for events
- Answer questions from students and community members via Email, phone, and in-person
- Delegate and communicate with a small, collaborate team at the front desk
- Enter data to help FIUTS evaluate our programs
- Promote events on social media and by creating posters
- Develop the weekly E-newsletter
- Special projects that are of interest to intern such as planning an event
- Support all program areas
- Additional tasks as assigned
Competitive applicants have strong communication skills, a flexible schedule, and a passion for the FIUTS mission.
If approved by an academic counselor, it is possible to earn credit for a FIUTS internship. For more information about receiving academic credit, consult your academic advisor and the FIUTS Executive Director. Internships with academic credit should be focused on a project that directly relates to your field of study or the class for which you will receive credit. Past interns have created projects related to event planning, public relations, non-profit management, technology, and finance.
If you are interested in an internship with FIUTS, contact Danika Delano, Student Programs Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org. To apply, send your resume and cover letter at least 1 1/2-2 months before the beginning of the quarter you wish to intern. For example, if you want to begin in October, the deadline is mid-August.
