Tell a Friend About FIUTS Homestay Hosting
Help us spread the word about hosting!
Each year, FIUTS receives over 200 applications from international students interested in being hosted for a Welcome Week homestay. We are always in need of more volunteers to serve as hosts!
Word of mouth is the most powerful tool we have to make sure as many students as possible experience a homestay or Friendship Connection. Here are some things you can do to help:
Post an announcement in a newsletter or listserv
Are you able to post to your local neighborhood listserv, alumni newsletter, or other resource that reaches people who might be interested in hosting? Click here for a set of sample announcements that you can use.
Send a personalized message to your friends, family, neighbors, or colleagues inviting them to apply to host
In the long history of the FIUTS homestay program, we've seen over and over the power of people sharing their personal experiences hosting in order to bring their friends on board!
Send an email to your network to share the need for more hosting and share why you personally find hosting to be a meaningful experience. And don't forget to send them the link to the main website for more information (www.fiuts.org/homestay) as well as the link to the application (www.fiuts.org/hostapplication).
Post an announcement on Facebook, Twitter, or other social media platform
Social media and the power of social networks are priceless ways for small organizations like FIUTS to reach large audiences. Join our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter to get updates and shareable images.
We also invite you tobelow to use on your own page and change your Facebook profile picture to a photo of you and a host student, with a description that tells people about FIUTS and invites them to host!

Share brochures, flyers, or postcards in your neighborhood
FIUTS has many print materials that we'd be happy to share with you if you know of local stores, coffee shops, or other neighborhood locations that would be willing to post them or make them available (just be sure to ask permission!). To get these materials, you can:
* Email email@example.com and let us know what you'd like, and we'll mail you a packet
* Stop by our office in HUB 206 on the UW campus to pick up materials
* Download the flyer (PDF) to print yourself or share electronically
Invite a FIUTS staff member to speak at your event or meeting
Are you a member of a local group that would be interested in learning about FIUTS? Staff members always love to visit clubs or groups around the Seattle area to talk about what we do and invite people to get involved. To arrange for a speaker, contact Samantha Novak at firstname.lastname@example.org.
