Youth Leadership Program with Azberbaijan
Community * Diversity * Citizen Participation
The Youth Leadership Program with Azerbaijan is a three-week
exchange program focusing on expanding relationships between U.S. and Azerbaijani students, educators, and communities from differing ethnic, religious, and social groups and strengthening ties between the two countries. The Youth Leadership Program with Azerbaijan is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cult
ural Affairs, and is administered by American Councils for International Education and FIUTS.
Eighteen high school students and 3 educators from Azerbaijan will travel to Seattle this August and 9 high school students and 1 educator from Seattle will travel to Azerbaijan this July. Participants in both groups will engage in activities that increase their understanding of each culture, develop skills and knowledge about civic rights and responsibilities and gain a deeper appreciation for community service and engagement.
While in Seattle program participants will engage in the following
activities:
- Homestays with local host families
- Visits to local high schools and service projects with local youth
- Workshops exploring the themes of civic rights, youth leadership development, respect for diversity, and community engagement.
- Visits to Washington State cultural and historic sites
