Temporary Housing

Hotels, hostels, and other options if you need a place to stay for just a few days.

If you need a place to stay temporarily while you search for permanent housing or wait to move into the residence halls, there are many hotels and hostels in Seattle. Hostels are usually cheaper than hotels, and have dormitory-style bunk beds shared with other guests. Hostels also have shared kitchens, lounges, or bathrooms. Whether you stay in a hostel or a hotel, it is a good idea to ask about discounts if you plan to stay more than a few days - many hotels have weekly rates.

All of these locations are great options for students who are staying in a FIUTS Welcome Week homestay but need temporary housing in between the end of their homestay and moving into the residence halls.

FIUTS Welcome Week Homestays
: For new UW international students, the FIUTS homestay is a great option for your first week in Seattle. FIUTS hosts are volunteers who want to help welcome new students to Seattle and get to know people from around the world. A homestay is a great way to be welcomed to a new country and learn about the US, so we recommend this option for students who are seeking a cross-cultural experience. There is a fee for homestays - to apply, please see our Homestay Page. Please note that this option is only available for incoming UW international students and that homestays may last no more than 10 days. Applications MUST be received no less than one month in advance of your arrival in Seattle.
