Early Fall Start (EFS) International Freshmen

Welcome to Early Fall Start (EFS) at the University of Washington! 2016 EFS classes begin on Tuesday, August 23. International students enrolled in this program must attend a mandatory 1 1/2 day orientation on Monday, August 22 and the afternoon of Tuesday, August 23.

Early Fall Start (EFS) is an optional program for new freshmen who wish to begin their studies early and earn credits before fall quarter begins. There are a few important things you should know as an international student participating in the Early Fall Start program. To register for EFS, please visit Education Outreach's website- registration is now open. The registration deadline is August 20, 5 p.m. PST.

International students may enter the U.S. up to, but not more than, 30 days prior to the start date listed on your I-20: September 15, the official start date for all international students admitted for autumn quarter. Please make your travel plans accordingly and do not arrive before August 15 if you are entering the U.S. with an "Initial Attendance" I-20 form.

Early Fall Start International Student Orientation: August 22-23

Students participating in EFS must attend a mandatory EFS International Student Orientation. A partnership between FIUTS and First Year Programs (FYP), this orientation will include required immigration check-in for new international students and special thematic sessions to introduce you to student life in the U.S. and at the UW. Students completing the Hybrid 1-Day Online/1-day On-Campus Advising and Orientation will complete Part II of their FYP A&O requirement through this orientation.

During EFS International Student Orientation, you will complete the International Student Service (ISS) New Student Check-In process. You must report your local address and bring your immigration documents to complete the check-in process. Go to New Students Post-Arrival Checklist for a list of documents you need and samples of each document. Remember to sign your I-20 before submitting.

FIUTS EFS Orientation is sponsored by Wells Fargo & U.S. Bank
