Marie Vanderbilt
Student Board Member 08-09, USA

“Working with international students, befriending them, and seeing the friendships they make has made me realize there is  no connection that is impossible, no cultural hurdle that is too large to prevent a friendship... Being a part of the board has taught me so much about myself and how to interact with others...And it’s really pushed me to see my city, my country, and the world in new ways.” After Marie graduates this spring with a double major in European Studies and Norwegian, she’ll spend next fall in Iran, participating in an intensive Farsi program at the University of Tehran, and putting what she has learned at FIUTS into practice.

Yiling Mou
World to Work Week Student Participant 09, China

"This is such a remarkable experience for me.  As a student major in finance, I was looking for an intern opportunity for a long time.  However, I didn't make it.  At last, I took part in FIUTS' event and got what I was looking for.  This really means a lot to me.”

Kim V. Colaprete and Chavi M. Hohm
Homestay Hosts and Community Partners

"Through FIUTS we were lucky enough to be a Homestay family and hosted a student from France. It was fascinating to chat with both the students and other host families as we moved forward to the historical 2008 presidential elections. From that experience and the warmth of the staff at FIUTS we decided that FIUTS is an organizations that we would love to work more with in the future."
