FIUTS Statement on Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) Announcement

We know that many in our community are feeling anxious and distressed about yesterday's announcement from SEVP that international students taking online classes only will not be able to stay in the United States this fall. FIUTS was not expecting this announcement either, and we are dismayed by the impact that such a policy would have on students and their families. These changes are not yet final, however, and there is a great deal of uncertainly around this announcement and what it will mean. UW is working to understand these changes and their impact, and ISS will share updates via email to affected students as well as on their website as this information is available.

As always, FIUTS affirms our unwavering belief that the presence of international students makes our campus, community, and country better. We will continue to advocate for policies that support inclusion and understanding through cross-cultural connections between people.
