Meet the FIUTS Summer 2021 SUSIs: Nigeria

FIUTS is thrilled to welcome 24 undergraduates from Brazil, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Russia, and Tunisia as part of the 2021 Study of the US Institute (SUSI) for Student Leaders on Education and the Future of Work. While this program usually takes place in person in Seattle, we are excited to host our first virtual SUSI this summer!

During the 5-week virtual program, the group will study the ways in which technology, innovation, and globalization are prompting the development of new initiatives to educate and prepare youth with the professional skills needed to succeed in the future. They will also take part in curriculum development seminars to prepare them to develop and lead trainings that benefit their home communities.

Every day this week FIUTS will introduce the SUSI participants from one of the six country groups that make up the 2021 cohort. Continue on to read more about the SUSIs representing Nigeria!

Pauline Shallangwa Samson

I am Pauline Shallangwa Samson from Adamawa State, Nigeria. I come from a family of five children and i was raised in a farm house.   I am studying Veterinary Medicine at University of Maiduguri, Borno State. It is a course i really love and cherish.  I love executing projects, cracking difficult problems, reading, writing, cracking jokes, adventure, having fun and learning. I dearly love putting smiles on peoples faces and making progress in everything i do.

I belong to a subgroup called 'School Visitation Team' we visit secondary school's and meet students. We try to get proper knowledge about how they live, challenges they face, things they like and enjoy. We use the report from our visitations to figure out ways the students can be helped both at our level and levels ahead of us. We also try to create good relationship with the students so that they can be open and comfortable to relate any complain or view to us.
The SUSI program is so dear to my heart, it captures a picture of me improving on the many things i love doing. I am so excited to learn more and to get to know everyone better.
