FROM APRIL 4TH - MAY 6TH, 2022 FIUTS WILL HOST A VIRTUAL COHORT OF THE PAN-AFRICA YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (PAYLP)
During this program, students and adult mentors from Botswana, Ethiopia, and The Gambia develop leadership and civic engagement skills, learn about U.S. history and culture, and build a network of Pan-African emerging leaders, forging bonds between youth from the African continent and Washington State. Participants gain skills and experiences through both synchronous and asynchronous workshops and activities intended to prepare them to plan and implement community action projects in their home communities.
FIUTS produces this program through a contract with Meridian International Center, and the program is fully funded by the U. S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Questions? Contact Ellen Frierson at ellen@fiuts.org.
Local youth and current UW undergraduates can get involved in PAYLP by applying to be a virtual FIUTS Ambassador. Ambassadors are a critical piece of the program who participate in weekly cultural exchange activities and a Roundtable Discussion event. FIUTS Ambassadors learn new skills, build their resume, make international friends and have fun! You can find more information here.
