In March and April 2017, FIUTS hosted a group of 13 high school youth and two adult mentors through the Youth Ambassadors Program with Argentina and Chile.

The Youth Ambassadors Program (YAP) brings together young people between the ages of 15 and 18 from across the Americas for an enrichment program to promote mutual understanding, increase leadership skills, and prepare youth to make a difference in their communities. Participants are competitively selected high school students who have demonstrated leadership aptitude and aninterest in community service. Each program also includes adult mentor participants.

The thematic focus of the YAP with Argentina and Chile is "Multiculturalism and Civic Engagement." After participants return to their home countries, they use the knowledge and skills gained through the YAP to plan and implement community action projects in their home communities.

They stay with host families during their time in Seattle and have opportunities to meet and connect with local youth.

FIUTS produces the Seattle portion of this Youth Ambassadors Program through a contract with World Learning, and the program is fully funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
