Making Thanksgiving even more special!

Thanksgiving is a time when families come together to express gratitude for the blessings in their lives. However, for some, it goes beyond the traditional turkey and pumpkin pie – it becomes an opportunity to foster exchange with familiar and non-familiar faces. This year, 30 families opened their homes to over 80 students from more than 15 countries through the Homestay program by FIUTS.

FIUTS connects local families with international students, providing a platform for cross-cultural experiences. Hosting international students during Thanksgiving allows families to share the warmth of this American tradition while also learning about diverse customs and perspectives. Families and students, strangers at the beginning of the day, soon find common ground through shared laughter, stories, and, of course, delicious food.

Hosting international students is not just an act of kindness; it's a bridge between cultures. These connections end up extending beyond Thanksgiving dinner, often turning into lasting friendships that enrich the lives of both hosts and students.

The FIUTS' Homestay program plays a crucial role in promoting global citizenship. As families and students break bread together, they are also breaking down barriers, creating a world where cultural diversity is celebrated and embraced.
