“By allowing the space (CulturalFest) for people to showcase the artistic expressions of their cultures, people are able to comprehend and appreciate the richness that comes with it easily.”

At FIUTS CulturalFest we connect people with from the same and different backgrounds through music and dance. It is an eventful experience for people of all ages. We remember last year's vibrant performance by Vallenato Panamericano. They are returning to the stage to show us more of Latin American culture!

Vallenato Panamericano at CulturalFest 2023

Vallenato Panamericano is a group that represents Latin-American culture through its music and dances. Me and a couple of friends founded this group to perform at CulturalFest 2023. We chose the name because all of our performers come from all over the American continent. I got into this music through my father, a big Vallenato fan and I have been learning how to play the accordion for almost 10 years now.

For us, CulturalFest 2023 was a blast. We had so much fun last year rehearsing all of the pieces and during the performance as well. I was happy that we had the chance to come back for another year and show people a little bit more of our culture.

“For us, music and dance transcend entertainment; instead, they serve as powerful forms of cultural expression, embodying the traditions, values, and history of our heritage which is a combination of African, First Nations and European influences.

We believe music brings people together, overcoming cultural and language barriers. We've carefully selected songs that awaken our souls, move our bodies, and touch our hearts. Our goal is to create a harmonious performance where the universal language of music unites us all to share joy with us through diverse genres, such as vallenato, cumbia, and salsa and hopefully join us in dancing.”

Events like CulturalFest are an opportunity for different countries to show their culture through artistic expression such as music, dances, etc. By allowing the space for people to showcase the artistic expressions of their cultures, people are able to comprehend and appreciate the richness that comes with it easily. We believe our performance is an excellent way to share the multi-facet of Latin American rhythms and lyrics written in Spanish, allowing the public to journey through different countries like Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, and Cuba.

If you want to get a musical tour of Latin America, come and check out Vallenato Panamericano’s amazing performance at CulturalFest 2024 in Benaroya Hall!
