This Summer, FIUTS is hosting the SUSI on Civic Engagement program sponsored by the Department of State and in partnership with Meridian International. SUSI (Study of the U.S. Institute) brings emerging student leaders from Eurasia to Seattle to explore democracy, dialogue, and community action in the U.S.
20 undergraduate student leaders will explore civic engagement through academic coursework, leadership workshops, service projects, and cultural activities. Participants will also get the chance to engage with the local community through various outlets.
We have several opportunities coming up for a chance to engage with the participants:
Ambassador Program: Local college students can apply to be SUSI Ambassadors, serving as peer mentors and cultural liaisons for international participants.
Host a student: Seattle residents can host a SUSI participant for one week, providing them with a deeper understanding of family life and culture in the U.S. (June 27-July 2, 2025)
Attend a SUSI event:
Roundtable Discussions on Civic Engagement (July 8, 2025)
