Become a FIUTS Ambassador

The Ambassador program is open to college students of all ages. You will connect with exchange students from the Eurasia region.

THE FIUTS AMBASSADOR PROGRAM OFFERS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR college students AROUND SEATTLE TO CONNECT WITH INTERNATIONAL participants FOR CROSS-CULTURAL FRIENDSHIP, LEARNING, AND GROWTH.

FIUTS Visiting Programs Ambassadors are Seattle-area students and recent alumni who volunteer to help welcome international students and visitors to Seattle on short-term exchange programs. Ambassadors receive training and experience in leadership, planning, teamwork, and citizen diplomacy. Ambassadors are an integral part of FIUTS visiting programs and act as cultural liaisons, peer mentors, friends, and leaders during the international participants’ time in Seattle. As an Ambassador you can learn new skills, have fun, make friends, build your resume, and support FIUTS’ mission to inspire cross-cultural friendship and understanding in our community.

Ambassador opportunities in the Puget Sound region are specialized for for local college students. FIUTS Ambassador events include in-person activities focused on cultural exchange such as ice breaker activities, scavenger hunts, and city trekking with peers. Ambassadors will also participate in at least one workshop to engage in dialogue with participants about leadership and civic development.

Ambassadors must attend an orientation prior to the start of the program. There is no cost to participate and students can earn service hours toward graduation requirements.

Please note that the FIUTS Ambassador program is only for students who are currently attending, or have recently graduated from, Seattle-area universities. It is not a travel program. For information on how to apply for programs that will allow you to travel to the U.S. on an international exchange program, please contact your home university or local U.S. Embassy; FIUTS does not handle applications for these programs.

Not attending one of the required events does not disqualify an applicant from participating as an ambassador.

The program expanded my cultural understanding and broke stereotypes that I’ve assumed over the years! Talking and chatting with the participants was such a privilege and the program really showcased what different perspectives had to offer.
