About the FIUTS Ambassador Experience

The FIUTS Ambassador Program is a great way for high school and college students in the Seattle area to connect with international visitors and build cross-cultural friendships.

Ambassadors are part of FIUTS programs and gain hands-on experience by:

• Serving as cultural guides and local hosts

• Helping plan and lead activities

• Building connections with students from around the world

From fun activities like scavenger hunts and city outings to meaningful conversations, Ambassadors help bring FIUTS’ mission to life.

Event Details

UUTI Winter 2027 - January 23-February 13, 2027. This is a volunteer program for youth ages 14-20 in the Seattle/North Bend area with shifts typically once or twice a week during the weekend. (This activity meets service hours requirements!)

Ambassadors will connect with peers from Kiribati (an island country in Micronesia), take part in fun activities, and practice their leadership skills in the process. Ambassadors will receive a calendar of opportunities to participate in programming with the I-Kiribati students during the weekends throughout the month. In addition to mandatory events, there are multiple optional evening activities every week that ambassadors are welcome to join at Camp Waskowitz.

Open to high school and undergraduate students

Saturday, January 23 - Culture workshop and introductions - North Bend downtown area

Sunday, January 24 - Bellevue mall shopping and movies

Sunday, January 31st - to be determined

Sunday, February 7th - to be determined

Friday, February 12th - final dinner

Japan Waseda Sports in Education Program - March 1-5. This is a volunteer program for college students and recent alumni.

We anticipate at least three days with ambassador involvement over the course of this week-long program:
Open to undergraduate and graduate students - registration opens soon!

Monday, March 1st:
4:30 - 7:30 pm Welcome dinner with the Waseda university students, facilitated introductions and icebreakers

Wednesday, March 3rd

5:00 - 7:00 pm Bowling at UW HUB

Friday, March 5th:
5:30 - 7:30 pm - Final dinner

Interested? Sign up to become an Ambassador or fill out the interest form to get updates. There’s no cost to join, and students can earn service hours.

This program is open to current students or recent alumni of colleges and universities in the Seattle area.

Please note: This is not a travel program. FIUTS does not manage applications for international exchange programs to the U.S. If you’re looking for those opportunities, contact your school or local U.S. Embassy.
