The SUSI program will begin with a week-long study tour to Washington, D.C. (January 4-9) and New Orleans, Louisiana (January 9-12). We will then travel to Seattle, Washington for the remainder of the program. During our time in Seattle, we will take a couple of short trips to nearby locations. See details below!
Study Tour to Washington D.C. and New Orleans, Louisiana: Upon arrival in the U.S. on January 4, participants will spend four days in the nation's capital visiting important and world-famous monuments and museums, meeting with the U.S. Department of State, and touring the Capitol and the fascinating and thought-provoking exhibits at the Newseum. On January 9, we will fly to New Orleans where we will learn about initiatives to build community and restore the city after 2005's Hurricane Katrina. And then on January 12- it's off to Seattle for the rest of the program!
Mini-Study Tour: A day-long study tour to Olympia, Washington (the state capital) to learn about civic engagement in the local context.
SUSI Retreat: The SUSI retreat is an exciting and educational experience with the SUSI UW Ambassadors! Together we will have fun while exploring team-building and intercultural communication. The retreat takes place at beautiful Camp Arnold in Eatonville, Washington.
