We're excited to announce this year's incredible lineup of talented performers from all over the world at the FIUTS CulturalFest Performance Showcase 2018. These amazing individuals and groups will share music and dance at Meany Hall on Saturday, February 10; buy your tickets online now!

This year's CulturalFest performers are:

Unplugged (South Asia): Unplugged fuses Indian semi-classical and Western music pieces to showcase a melodious union of culturally diverse songs.

Taiko Kai (Japan): The Taiko Kai drumming group blends traditional elements with modern themes, creating contemporary rhythms and sounds, to embody the spirit of modern taiko.

UW Salsa Club (Latin America): UW Salsa Club will be showcasing a salsa routine choreographed and performed by the club officers. It will include both partner work and individual shines or solo work.

Chhandam School of Kathak Dance (Northern India): This dance duo performs kathak, a storytelling dance that is a blend of Muslim and Hindu cultures.

Husky Wushu Club (China): This act showcases traditional Chinese martial arts originating from several areas of China and will incorporate a dynamic display of group coordination, weapons, and fist forms.

Hanwoollim UW (South Korea): Hanwoollim UW plays Samulnori music rooted in Pungmulnori, Korean folk music used for entertainment, spiritual rituals, and bringing good harvest for farmers.

UW Khatan (Mongolia): This dance group portrays a Mongolian queen well known for her heroism and intelligence, leading her fellow warriors into battle in the late 17th century.

Sangeet Moksha (India): Featuring a medley of vocals and instruments from around the world, including tablas, clarinet, harmonium, and guitar, this upbeat and lively performance integrates a variety of religious, spiritual, and cultural traditions.

Pilialoha Pau ‘ole (Hawai’i): Hula is one of the ways Native Hawai’ians tell stories and pass on their culture and history. This group will use hula as a means to explore their identities as hula dancers and Native Hawai’ians or allies.

Rae Wong (China): Rae Wong will perform a classical Chinese dance called “Divine Lotus,” which depicts the delicately beautiful flower that rises from the mud and mire, growing towards the sun.

Virsa Panjab Da (Punjab, India): Virsa Panjab Da will be performing a cultural dance form known as Bhangra, a folk dance form which includes high energy, vibrant colors, and the use of props.

Denná Good-Mojab: I am a dedicated social justice advocate, an Iranian-American, and a singer. I was on the FIUTS Student Board for two years and performed at three consecutive CulturalFest Performance Showcases before graduating from UW in 2016. In addition to songwriting and theater, I enjoy urban, contemporary, and Latin partner dancing.

I am thrilled to be one of the co-MCs this year for FIUTS CulturalFest! My name is Ian Yu and I'm a second-year Design student at the University of Washington. FIUTS is like a home to me. I still vividly remember my freshman year when I interned at FIUTS. I have learned a lot and made many new friends across the world. Hope to see you all there!
