Faces of FIUTS: Meet Nadrah

Faces of FIUTS is a social media campaign that collects personal stories from individuals who are part of our work. This week, meet Nadrah!

Where are you from?

I am from Shah Alam, which is only 30 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

What's your FIUTS story?

I was an Ambassador for the SUSI program in 2017. Through this program, I was given the chance to connect with not only fellow UW students, but also with 20 young, ambitious, and inspiring African students. They have taught me the beauty of friendship that is not bounded by cultural difference. Regardless of the difference we have, at the end of the day, we were all striving for self and social growth as we enjoyed volunteering together and learning about each of our partner's projects to improve their society.

How will you change the world?

I have always believed that everyone deserves to have access to proper education and also to choose any career path they are passionate about. It is unfortunate that education can be expensive and burdens the less fortunate. I always participate in outreach programs to teach math and science to elementary school students from lower income families to inspire them to pursue their dreams.
