In Changing Times, 78 Years Strong: FIUTS Impact Report 2025/2026
The past year brought continued uncertainty in federal funding, a global economic downturn, and shifting student behavior, testing FIUTS in new ways. We faced these challenges while still finding our footing after the 2022 end of our contract agreement with UW, a 75-year partnership that had shaped nearly everything about how we operated.
But FIUTS is resilient. As we approach our 78th year, FIUTS students found a sense of belonging, grew as leaders, built lasting relationships here in our region, and made an impact both locally and around the world.
136 social and cultural events, 534 unique participants, 775 total registrations
114 new facilitators trained
145 visiting program participants from 12 countries on 7 exchange programs
175 homestay matches, 53 local hosts
"Americans are more diverse and community oriented than I initially expected. I've noticed a strong culture of volunteerism, openness, and respect for individuality, especially here in Seattle... I learnt that we are all human and the same struggles we go through [at home], Americans also go through in one form or another."
— Participant, Winter Study of the US Institute on Civic Engagement
Thank you to the students, hosts, supporters, and alumni who make FIUTS possible. We look forward to the years ahead.
