The FIUTS RMUTT Group Exploring the Seattle Waterfront

RMUTT faculty enjoyed pizza with new friends

It’s been over a month since FIUTS hosted a group of educators from Thailand's Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) for the RMUTT Higher Education & Leadership Exchange Program. This program offered RMUTT faculty the chance to explore the Seattle area and the U.S. education system, and to build connections with our region’s academic institutions.

Exploring Seattle University

Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) is one of Thailand’s leading public universities, located just north of Bangkok. It’s part of the Rajamangala University system, which emphasizes practical, career-oriented education. RMUTT is known for blending academic theory with hands-on learning across disciplines like engineering, hospitality, business, agriculture, and the arts.

Arriving at SeaTac Airport

From March 23 to April 3, 2025, the RMUTT faculty participated in a tightly packed schedule filled with workshops exploring the U.S. higher education system, campus visits and meetings, and cultural immersion in the Seattle area. Special thanks to the local departments and campuses who welcomed this group, including UW Bothell, UW IELP, Shoreline Community College, Seattle Colleges, and Seattle University.

A highlight of the program was the chance for RMUTT faculty to meet FIUTS students and local hosts during meals, excursions, and special events. These informal connections created rich opportunities for cultural exchange—and a lot of laughter and joy along the way. From exploring Seattle landmarks together to sharing personal stories over dinner, we had so much fun getting to know each other.

The goal of the RMUTT Higher Education & Leadership Exchange was to build relationships for future exchanges of students and faculty between RMUTT and colleges and universities in our area. For FIUTS, it was an honor to host this group and to learn about their beautiful and successful university, and we look forward to seeing where these new connections might lead in the future.
